Privacy policy

Panteros Trading Pty Ltd (ABN 23 627 698 579) trading as Settlers ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it. We've kept it in plain English deliberately.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

When you place an order: your name, email, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, and order details. Payment card details are processed by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments, PayPal, or similar) - we never see or store your full card number.

When you browse: standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring site, collected via cookies and similar technologies. Our store runs on Shopify, which collects this data to make the site function.

When you sign up or contact us: your email address if you join our mailing list, and whatever you include when you email us.

What we don't collect: we don't collect sensitive information (health, beliefs, biometrics) and we don't want it. Please don't send it to us.

How we use it

To process and deliver your orders, including sharing delivery details with shipping carriers
To respond when you contact us
To send you marketing emails if you've opted in — every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing works immediately
To understand how the site is used so we can improve it
To prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

Only the parties needed to run the business:

Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders
Payment providers, to process your payment
Shipping carriers (such as Australia Post), to deliver your order
Email and marketing platforms, to send communications you've opted into
Professional advisers or authorities, where the law requires it

Some of these providers (for example, Shopify) store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Where your information goes overseas, it's handled under the provider's privacy safeguards and contractual protections.

Advertising and Analytics

We use Meta technologies, including the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, to help us understand how visitors use our website, measure the effectiveness of our advertising, and deliver more relevant advertisements on Facebook and Instagram.

These technologies may collect information such as pages visited, products viewed, purchases made, IP address, browser information, and other identifiers. This information may be shared with Meta in accordance with its privacy practices.

Our relationship with Shopify

This store is hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes information about your use of the site in order to provide and improve the store. We also use certain Shopify enhanced features that draw on data from your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify - for those features, Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information, including responding to requests about it. You can read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy at privacy.shopify.com and exercise rights over data Shopify processes via the Shopify Privacy Portal.

Advertising and your opt-out rights

Where we use personalised advertising based on your activity across merchants and websites, you may (depending on where you live) have the right to opt out of that use of your information. You can do so via the Shopify Privacy Portal linked above, or by contacting us. If you browse with the Global Privacy Control signal enabled, we treat it as an opt-out request for that browser and device automatically. We don't respond to other "Do Not Track" signals.

Children

This store isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority. If you're a parent or guardian and believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and understand site traffic (including via analytics and, where you've consented, advertising tools). You can control cookies in your browser settings - the site will still work, though your cart may not remember you.

How long we keep it

We keep order and transaction records as long as we're required to for tax, accounting, and consumer-law purposes (generally at least five years). Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Data we no longer need is deleted or de-identified.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. The store runs on Shopify's PCI-compliant infrastructure, connections are encrypted, and access to customer data within our business is limited to the people who need it. No online system is perfectly secure, but we don't cut corners.

Access and correction

You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete what we're not legally required to keep. Email admin@panteros.com.au and we'll respond within a reasonable time, usually well within 30 days.

Overseas customers

If you're ordering from outside Australia, note that your information is processed in Australia and by the providers listed above. By ordering, you consent to that transfer.

If you're in the UK or European Economic Area: where we transfer your personal information out of the UK or EEA, we rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (or the UK equivalent), unless the destination country has been determined to provide an adequate level of protection. You may also have additional rights under local law - including to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent - and you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us and we'll do our best to honour these rights.

Complaints

If you believe we've mishandled your information, email us first at admin@panteros.com.au. We take it seriously and will investigate. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
